Having not been previously aware of the work that the People's Trust for Endangered Species carries out, I was very interested to work with Firebird for this client after doing some research into how they work, and what they do.
My time working with Firebird for PTES has proven to be my favourite client as over the period of my internship, I have fortunately been involved in lots of interesting projects.
In July, I was involved with the filming for the PTES Hedgehog Street campaign by The One Show. As this is a programme I frequently watch, I was extremely excited to engage with the undertaking of this project.
I have attended some of the monthly PR meetings that Firebird and PTES hold and was involved in hearing two different production companies propose their ideas for a video to be shown at the People's Trust for Endangered Species £1million celebration event that is taking place in September 2011.
Following on from the interviews, I attended the shooting of this video, which took place in two different locations - Ducklington and Wytham Woods in Oxfordshire, which were both lovely locations with lots of great backdrops. The shoot was very interesting, as I was able to see how different production companies work, in contrast to the One Show, and learnt that creating a short film is a very long process to getting the final result.
As well as this, I have written evaluation reports for two of PTES's campaigns, ‘The completion of an inventory of traditional English Orchards' and ‘Hedgehog Street'. The reports were in relation to the coverage that these two campaigns had received, including broadcast coverage and print coverage.
In conclusion, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Firebird for PTES, they are a wonderful charity, helping to ensure a future for endangered species all around the world, and have provided me with the opportunity to carry out a variety of different PR activities throughout my internship.
